The Yonex Astrox Tour badminton rackets are of premium design and catered to advanced and regular club players. The Tour models offer a significant upgrade compared to the Yonex Game Models due to the introduction of various new technologies – Energy Boost Cap Plus, Slim Shaft, Namd. We will break down the benefits of each new technology and how they will enhance your game.
The Energy Boost Cap Plus found in the Tour and Pro models help to maximize shaft performance. The front of the cap allows the shaft to flex and bend during swings while its arch-shaped sides help to stabilize the shaft by preventing twisting. This essentially allows you to deliver full power swings with minimal energy loss while maintaining control of your frame. This is a benefit for advanced players during fast-paced rallies where players have to be in control all the time.
The next technology introduced in the Tour models is the Extra Slim Shaft. Yonex have used cutting edge NANOMETRIC carbon technology to produce an ultra-thin and ultra-tough aerodynamic shaft. This allows you to create stronger and more intense shots.
The third key technology introduced in the Tour model is the Namd technology which is the most significant. The Play and Game model possess the Nanomesh Neo technology which offers a basic experience of the Namd.
What does the Namd do? Namd is a new dimensional graphite that attaches nano material directly to the graphite fiber. This is a huge contrast to the traditional method of adding nano material within the resin. This new technology allows for extra energy to be stored in the racket frame when it flexes – allowing for explosive energy release when the racket comes into contact with the shuttle. You will find it easier to deliver power in every shot compared to before. Another benefit of the Namd is that it forces the frame to quickly snap back to position after every shot – allowing you to recover faster during rallies. This really helps during long doubles games as you are able to conserve energy and create more time for yourself between shots.
The Tour models also come with a variety of other technologies :
Namd - A world-first, new dimension graphite material, Namd, greatly improves the adhesion of the graphite fibres and resin by attaching nanomaterial directly to the graphite fibre. In high performance racquets, it is common to combine nanomaterials with resin that connects graphite fibres, but in Namd, nanomaterials are directly adhered to the graphite fibbers and resin is greatly increased. This major improvement produces a shaft that flexes and stores energy, delivering explosive force on impact with the shuttle.
NANOMESH NEO - Ensures a stronger more flexible frame, while increased shaft flex creates maximum power.
AERO+BOX Frame - Combines solid hitting feel and quick swing.
ISOMETRIC - Enlarged Sweet Spot. ISOMETRICTM technology continues to help the world’s greatest players achieve global success. Developed over 30 years ago, the ISOMETRICTM design increases the sweet spot by 7%*. Compared to a conventional round frame, a square-shaped ISOMETRICTM racquet generates a larger sweet spot by optimizing the intersection of the main and cross strings. ISOMETRICTM delivers greater control without sacrificing power.
Rotational Generator System - Counterbalanced Weight Distribution. By applying the counterbalance theory, weight is distributed throughout the grip end, frame top and the joint for maximum control. The transition to the next shot can be performed smoothly, with rapid succession.
Solid Feel Core - Cuts Vibration. The built-in solid feel core cuts harmful miscellaneous vibration at impact. Solid feel core is carried in all racquets manufactured in Japan.
Extra Slim Shaft - Thinnest, Strongest Ever Produced by Yonex. Cutting edge NANOMETRIC carbon technology is used to produce an ultra-thin, ultra-tough, aerodynamic shaft, created for a stronger and more intense shot.
Energy Boost CAP PLUS - Uniquely shaped cap which maximizes shaft performance. The front allows the shaft to flex, while the sides arch-shaped curve stabilizes the racquet face by preventing the shaft from twisting.
Built-in T-Joint - Increases strength between the frame and shaft eliminating head twist for more control.
Who is the Tour for?
The Astrox Tour models are designed for advanced players or strong club players who participate in fast and explosive games. The Tour models come with the latest technology and are a significant upgrade compared to the Game models. The Astrox Tour models are made in Taiwan and therefore cheaper than the Pro models which are made in Japan and considered more premium.
