Head-Heavy: more power, especially for shorter swings.
Even-Balance: a balanced feel, suits a broad range of players.
Head-Light: easier to manoeuvre — favoured by advanced players and net play in doubles.

Open (16x18 or 16x19): more spin and power, but strings wear faster.
Dense (18x20): more control and better string durability.

Ruler test: measure from the middle of your palm to the tip of your ring finger — 4 to 4⅜ inches suits most adults.
On-racket test: hold the racket for a backhand — there should be a finger’s width of space between your fingers and the base of your thumb.
Common sizes: G0 = 4", G1 = 4⅛", G2 = 4¼", G3 = 4⅜", G4 = 4½", G5 = 4⅝".
When in doubt, go smaller — an overgrip can build a grip up, but you can’t reduce one.
